strictest poverty
so severely writes Eckhart
about being poor

stripped of attachments
to this extreme he exhorts
nothing left at all

such a bleak calling
to live without desire
bereft of all wants

so it might appear
being in a human way
with vision impaired

not in emptiness
the way of the truly free
being without bounds

being eternal
as once all were and now are
will forever be

this kind of freedom
knows nothing but poverty
and its great riches
