Pondering Death

thinking about death
fine way to spend a moment
some perspective gained

at age eighty-four
death's not a hypothesis
it's a conclusion

how long do I have...
using my dad as a guide
five years from today

nowhere else to look
not in either direction
forward or backward

death is not scary
living in just one moment
you are then you're not

thinking about death
leads to thinking about life
the two are the same

a way of dying
thus is living in the now
only way to be
